The international standard ISO 18864 specifies the detection method of heavy metal content in Chinese medicinal materials. The analysis methods of heavy metal content involved in the standard are mainly atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) and inductively coupled plasma method (ICP). These analysis methods need to be carried out in the laboratory. The chemical treatment of the sample and then the analysis will affect the work efficiency of detection and analysis, and it is difficult to achieve real-time on-site analysis.
The 2020 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia "0212 General Rules for the Verification of Medicinal Materials and Decoction Pieces" restricts the content of lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), arsenic (As), and copper (Cu) in botanical medicinal materials and decoction pieces. The limit values are shown in Table 1. The series of analyzers have the detection limit below the limit content, can effectively carry out the relevant compliance detection, and have the ability of quantitative analysis.
In the test, the four types of samples were tested according to the above basic conditions, and the test results are shown in Table 2. Those with no data in the table are not detected. The test results show that the instrument has good accuracy and small detection error, and can accurately reflect the heavy metal content in each sample.
